Feist is Canadian. We know that because she tells us so. But should we believe her? If she told us she invented dungarees, would we take her seriously any more? And would we still be enchanted by her lovely fringe?
My CD of this album has a sticker on it telling me that this a "LIMITED EDITION". It doesn't say why. There's no bonus track(s) nor is there a Feist Fringe Template that you can take to the hairdressers to get a fringe like Feist's. So, should I take it seriously?
Well, in a word: yes. This is a good album, managing to retain the intimacy of her previous (excellent) albums, while adding some bluesier elements and some subtle orchestral touches, but still based around good songs. If you liked the previous albums, you will undoubtedly like this too. If you're a newcomer, I'd recommend 2007's "The Reminder" as a better introduction to the world of Feist. But if you've got the money, just go and buy all her albums. I don't know how the Canadian economy is holding up, but it could probably use the help.
An added fringe template in the CD booklet would have been nice though.
